There is no guarantee, with exception of one life partner between two people, or abstinence.

Anyway, It's just 'me'...I don't find humor in any illness...seen too many people suffer in my lifetime from a variety of illness'...including STD's. Doesn't mean I think others are 'bad' cause they find humor in such...to each their own sense of humor. :)

I was thinking along the lines of morally Jade, not so much a modern societies realistic way of thinking...such as, not having sex until one is married, and having sex with one partner only. In other words...if we follow the Bible relating to sex, then we shouldn't contract an STD. I do realize this is an old fashioned unrealistic logic for our current modern day society...as very few these days retain one life partner sexually.

IE: God allows mankind free will to live our lives as we choose...so if we choose to have sex in today's society out of wedlock, freely without really knowing someone well, whatever...then in that aspect of Biblical thought we are accountable for contracting an STD.

For instance...I went out partying last night...had 5 different guys hitting on me wanting to take me home, or come home with me...I came home alone. Had I chosen to take any of those guys up on their offers...then I would be accountable for any reprecusions that might follow a one night stand relating to STD's. I ain't that foolish or lonely, haha. Besides...I just can't do one night stands...I gotta have some emotional attachment to a man prior to being intimate...I just can't 'do it' for the sake of doing it. No doubt I'm a rare exception these days...but I don't judge others for their lifestyle choices, people do what they gotta do to live their own life.

Lastly, I agree STD's can be contracted easily by someone even if they do live their life with high moral standards, considering they may trust their sexual partners to be clean and honest with them about past exposure. Many live life concealing their exposure to STD's, even when becoming involved with someone they claim to care about...so no, suppose it's not one's fault for trusting someone to be telling the truth. The alternative would be to go through life trusting no one, which is humanly unrealisitic...we want to believe people are honest.

Connie Jo--with all respect & kindness, please don't blame people for their own suffering. Anyone can get an STD unless they stay virgins until they die... you can have sex one time and get an STD, and no one should be blamed for that. :-(

I suppose I react differently because I've seen too many people suffer, including a friend yrs ago who lost a loved one to Aids. For most suffering it's their own fault I suppose, but shoot...they say STD's are at epidemic levels even among young teens. It's just a sad reality of our failing moral society. :(
