In Need But Not Needy

Every now and then a hand reaches out,
catches our attention in a small but
special way and you ask yourself,” Is this
really happening?"

There are characteristics of verification,
when he accommodates you into his schedule,
when he thinks your silly jokes are funny,
your ideas, intellectual,

your stories, magickal, your passion,
attractive. But passion is a double-edged
sword that has positive and negative
traits, and it will too betray you,

overwhelm you. I think it's weird the way
we receive information into our lives.
He says, "I will never hurt you," and
you take him at his word.

But when the hurt occurs, it changes
our perception of things; how we act,
how we move though our daily schedules,
how we receive others.

You'd like to lay blame with him, with
yourself, when in reality you're both
blameless. Everyone processes at
their own rate,

in their own timing, and the universal
dynamics of love is a complicated one.
One minute it's there, the other minute,
it's gone.

There was a time when my impulses
for hate were a lot stronger than my
impulses for love, but now, nothing
is even as remotely significant

as acceptance. I've learned to unload
a lot of internal baggage that has been
interfering with my desires, with my goals,
and I'm happy with who I am.

I'm a human being under construction,
that occasionally is in need of some
general maintenance work from someone
intense enough to see the potential.
