I did not sell a peice of jewelry but for the 15 dollar registration fee I recieved a education on vendor retail

I made 4 mistakes....1. where I was located not on the main floor. 2. packaging and display was not as good

as others...there was 75 other jewelry vendors. 3. was not priced for a struggling economy . 4. wrong venue

to sell my type of jewelry... I learned a whole lot and plan on taking this as a learning experience and hopefully

go on from here... this year there were alot of Boutiques getting rid of inventory selling necklaces for a mere

3 dollars which they could and write it off as a buisness expense. I plan on having my own in home jewelry

parties . some spend alot of money on thier displays 1,000's I don't have the means to do that but I had a

education no doubt....nobody had the artistic spin here most of the jewelry was massed produced which was

sad. but Im gonna just go on from here and see where it leads me...its been just a strange week for me.

my macys card today was declined because it had a zero balance and I was late on it 3 years ago by a week

so they lowered my credit 2 years ago due to inactivity to $ 100 and would not raise the limit because I was late

on a payment...so today I told them to blow me and canceled the card. The only credit card I own now is a JC penny

card...sign of the times I remember in 1990 when I farmed 2 farms having a fist full of credit cards...I have became

a cash only gal. The lady at macys suggested that anyone having a card at least spend 5 dollars every month using

thier card. mine had not been used in a longass time and she said that is why things happened as it did.

Sorry PKL, been there done that, did 2 shows a couple years ago and only sold one piece. wrong venue for jewelry and also had people selling cheap ass manufactured stuff for next to nothing and so many people selling jewelry. thats one reason I have not been at my bench in so long it was disheartening. I don't know if you want to sell online but I think it is esty or something like that I can't remember right now is a good on line place to sell. good luck!

Do you ever make any jewelry from turquoise stones and sterling silver? That is my favorite jewelry. :)

Yeah, all credit cards require you use them once in a while to remain active. I've not used my Home Depot in almost a year, and it has a zero balance too. I was thinking about that the other day, that if I don't use it soon, they'll likely cancel it. About the time they cancel it, with my luck will be when I need to use it, hahaha.

Well, it's not that you weren't embraced...it's how you went about expressing your art to the public. As you said yourself...you made mistakes and have learned from those mistakes now...so you will be embraced 'next time' once those mistakes of showing your art are corrected.

Lighting is always good...will allow your jewelry to capture more beauty in the light...and will catch the eyes of potential buyers. :)

i get comments on my jewelry all the time so I am thinking alittle lighting alittle something something is in order if I ever try again...I feel alittle wounded right now its humbling to a artist not to be embraced.

Education is priceless! Especially related to being in business. :)

Judging from your post...I'd say you're a very wise business woman, and will succeed in time. The Economy really sucks right now, and all retail is suffering terribly. :(
