Dolly Parton, Kid Rock, Charlie Daniels and the late Ernest Tubb and Tootsie Bess will be inducted to the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville on Nov. 8. Commemorative sidewalk markers will be unveiled during the ceremony, which is free and open to the public. Located across the street from the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Music City Walk of Fame was created in 2006. The induction will bring the total number of honorees to 42.
Thanks for digging Mimi!! I had a feeling there was more to it than simply Country Music accomplishments and connections, especially considering the company of legendary Counrty Artists that were selected with Kid Rock, and his being the 'only' non legendary Country Artist among the group.
Regardless...I'm very happy for Kid and any accomplishments, recognition, awards, or honors bestowed upon him. He's worked hard since he was a young teen to reach the success he has, and no one deserves recognition more than he.

Your welcome. Also, it dawned on my on the way home from church tonight that if I remembered correctly each class of inductees included at least one person that was not traditionally associated with country music. So I looked it up and I remembered correctly.
Nov 06 - Roy Orbison
April 07 - Michael W. Smith
Nov 07 - Jimi Hendrix
April 08 - Steven Curtis Chapman
Nov 08 - Elvis & Little Richard
April 09 - CeCe Winans
Based on the purpose of the project to pay "tribute to those from all genres of music who have made significant contribution to preserving the musical heritage of Nashville and have contributed to the world through song or other industry collaboration", my guess is they intentionally include at least one inductee from another genre with each class.
Like you said I too am thrilled for him and agree that no one deserves it more.
Jimi Hendrix in no way could EVER be considered associated with Country Music...so there's the proof right there that this honor has nothing to do with strictly Country Music. So much for any bashing of Kid Rock for receiving this honor...to do so would mean bashing Hendrix for the same. :)
